Massa wins in Granja Viana

Maranello, 6 December 2009 - Felipe Massa, teamed up with Lucas di Grassi, third driver of the Renault Formula 1 team and Stock Car Lights driver Julio Campos, won the 500 Miles of Granja Viana yesterday in Cotia, near Sao Paulo. In Granja Viana Felipe was back on the top spot after his success here when he was 16 years old, when the race was held for the first time in 1997.

Massa crossed the line first after 644 laps and 10h 58:17.64. Second place went to Leonardo Nienkotter, Ricardo Zonta, André Nicastro, Francesco Ventre, Eduardo Dieter and Guilherme Silva, while the team, lead by Rubens Barrichello, joined by Tony Kanaan, Felipe Giaffone, Renato Russo and Osvaldo Negri, only came in third.

Massa dedicated the win to his son Felipinho at the end of a difficult season for him after the accident during the Hungarian GP’s qualifying. “Together with the victory gained in Florianopolis last week this was a very important goal for me after I had dreamt about getting back onto the track for a long time. I want to dedicate this victory to my son, it’s my way to say how much I love him.”

Fisichella at Bologna Motor Show opening

Bologna, 4 December 2009 - Giancarlo Fisichella was guest at the Ferrari stand at the Bologna Motor Show, today at its first day. The Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro driver signed numerous autographs for the vast number of young fans at the stand, where the F60, “his” car for five races in the last part of the 2009 season, was exposed.

"Ferrari will always remain something really special and you can see it in these occasions, when people’s attention is attracted by the red colour, which for me remains a synonym for victory,” Giancarlo told several journalists present at the show. "Regrets for how my adventure went? No, but because I realised my childhood dream. Naturally I hoped and I expected to do better, for me and especially for the team: unfortunately it didn’t work out. For the future I know for sure that I’m part of the Ferrari family and that I’m the third driver in 2010. Sauber? First of all I’m happy that they can participate in the Championship and I would like to be able to collaborate with a team I know and I got on very well with them: together with Ferrari we’ll see if that will be possible.”

A glimpse into the future

Jerez de la Frontera, 3rd December 2009 – This was a special day for the top three finishers in the Italian Formula 3 Championship, who today were given the chance to drive an F60. Afterwards, they explained how it felt during a short press conference. In charge of the programme, Luca Baldisserri was happy with the outcome “ The lads tackled the opportunity given them in a mature way, while this was a more difficult challenge than the one faced by those who drive at Fiorano last year. Here, there were other young drivers on track, all very keen to show their potential, while the track itself is more complicated. I believe that more of this type of event is the way to go for Formula 1.”

The quickest of the three, the Mexican, Pablo Sanchez Lopez, thanked everyone who had helped him realise his dream: “at first, it was difficult to deal with the power of this incredible car, then in the last few laps, even if I was struggling, it was absolutely fantastic.” Daniel Zampieri, who was second fastest, underlined the importance of the advice given by Andrea Bertolini, who was in Jerez in the role of driver coach. “Andrea followed us every step of the way and his help made this an unforgettable experience.” Marco Zipoli mentioned the huge difference between the Formula 1 and Formula 3 cars: “we learned so much, especially how much horsepower still separates us from Formula 1 and it was the best experience that an aspiring driver from this fantastic series could ever hope for.”

Ferrari drivers for a day

Jerez de la Frontera, 3 december 2009 - The final day of testing featuring young hopefuls at the Jerez de la Frontera circuit, saw the top three finishers in the Italian Formula 3 Championship taking turns at the wheel of the F60, brought to the track by Scuderia Ferrari. The first of the three to be Ferrari drivers for a day and to slide into the cockpit was Marco Zipoli from Genoa, who set the third best time with a 1.21.725, while the second best performance in this mini-classification came from Rome’s Daniel Zampieri, in 1.21.279. Quickest was the young Mexican, Pablo Sanchez Lopez, the last man to get behind the wheel of the car, with a time of 1.21.068, which was good enough for eleventh overall on the day. At the end of the session, the three drivers were bubbling with enthusiasm, just as were their three predecessors last year, when Ferrari, in collaboration with the ACI-CSAI created the opportunity for them to experience driving a car that had competed in the Formula 1 World Championship.

Here’s the Massa family!

Maranello, 3 December 2009 – Father Felipe and mother Raffaela are already used to being photographed, but for Felipinho this is the first time in front of the camera: now the Massa family is complete…

"What I’m experiencing right now is really something unique for me, it’s fantastic,” Felipe said. “I am really happy and I never thought I could feel anything like that.”

48 hours as a Ferrari driver

Jerez de la Frontera, 2 December 2009 – Talking to the media who are here for these three unique days of testing for young hopefuls with their sights set on Formula 1, Jules Bianchi was bubbling with enthusiasm immediately after his time on track: “I am happy, even if at the start, my heart was beating very fast and I found it hard to accept that I was sitting in the cockpit of a Ferrari.” There was a great deal of interest surrounding the young Frenchman’s debut at the wheel of the F60 and the driver himself felt his stint as a Ferrari driver had gone well. “It’s impossible to describe exactly what it feels like to be part of the Scuderia, even if it’s just for 48 hours.

I learned a lot, including what it means to go through a debrief facing fifteen engineers, given that I’m used to talking to just one person at the end of a session.” What impressed Bianchi the most was the power of the engine, along with the braking going into corners and the fact these could be taken at great speed, only braking at the very last moment. “Running with a heavy weight on board helped me understand what awaits me next year: winning in GP2 is my main aim, although I won’t easily forget this experience and the preparation required to make it into the world of Formula 1.

To the young guys driving tomorrow, I would advise them not to go looking for the limit straight away, but to let the team guide them, given that those of us who still have a long way to go can learn so much from them.”
